Specialist for Energy Management and Decision Support Systems (80%-100%) - 1202

 

Ensure that electricity flows in Switzerland

In this exciting position, you will independently drive the development of functionalities in the area of energy management and decision support for real-time operation and forward planning of the transmission grid. You will have the following tasks:

  • Development of the business architecture and lookahead functionalities of Energy Management Systems (EMS) (Forecasting of intra-day and day-ahead operating scenarios, integration of decision support tools such as Dynamic Line rating, Automated Voltage Control and Remedial Action Optimization)
  • Development of applications for decision support (Power Flow, Contingency Analysis, Optimal Power Flow, Specialised Mathematical Optimization Algorithms): Conceptualisation, prototyping, creation of technical specifications and testing
  • Business-side support of applications (including engineer on duty): Error analysis, algorithm tuning, user-feedback analysis and model updates
  • Project responsibility, application ownership and close collaboration with various specialists

 

This is how you make a difference

We are looking for a highly motivated individual with an independent, analytical way of working for this versatile position. You also have the following:

  • A degree in engineering (e.g. electrical engineering, energy science, control engineering, operations research or similar), an open mind for interdisciplinary activities and pragmatic problem solving skills
  • Experience in the areas of modelling, simulation and optimisation of power systems
  • Experienced in working with data and programming skills (Python or comparable)
  • Very good knowledge of English, German proficiency is advantageous

The business unit Market is Swissgrid's operational hub. The experienced specialists are responsible for transmission system operation and the markets for ancillary services. They also operate the congestion management at the Swiss borders and play an active role in shaping the development of the electricity market in Switzerland and Europe. At the heart of the Swiss electricity supply, in the Swissgrid control centre, various teams monitor and control the electricity flows in the grid around the clock.

Our motivated Operational Decision Support team is responsible for the development and operation of applications for operational decision support, in close cooperation with the internal IT.
