As part of our Development & Optimization team, you'll lead the advancement of critical AI systems that ensure Switzerland's electrical grid stability. Our team serves as the bridge between backoffice functions and real-time operations, developing innovative AI-powered tools and pioneering automation solutions that directly support grid operators in their 24/7 mission. Additionally, we're responsible for the development and operation of the ancillary services platform, which plays an essential role in maintaining Switzerland's grid stability.
Ensure that electricity flows in Switzerland
Take ownership of Switzerland's energy future by leading our innovative automation endeavor. You'll drive the continuous development of a product leveraging machine learning at its core to autonomously activate balancing energy worth hundreds of millions. This first-of-its-kind system at Swissgrid is essential for the efficient operation of our power grid. You will have the following tasks:
- Lead Technical Innovation: Drive the development of machine learning models for forecasting, optimization and automation
- Own Product Development: Act as a technical product owner, defining roadmaps and leading cross-functional development teams to deliver high-impact solutions
- Bridge Technology & Business: Manage stakeholder relationships, translating complex technical concepts into business value and ensuring alignment with strategic objectives
- Shape Platform Evolution: Contribute to the development and transformation of our ancillary services platform
- Support Critical Operations: Participate in 24/7 second-level support for the ancillary services platform

- Master’s, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field
- Strong foundation in software engineering, data engineering, and Machine Learning / MLOps with hands-on production deployment experience
- Solid expertise in cloud platforms, distributed systems, and building scalable architectures
- Experience leading technical projects and teams with strong stakeholder management skills
- Product ownership mindset balancing technical depth with strategic thinking
- Business-fluent German and English

The business unit Market is Swissgrid's operational hub. The experienced specialists are responsible for transmission system operation and the markets for ancillary services. They also operate the congestion management at the Swiss borders and play an active role in shaping the development of the electricity market in Switzerland and Europe. At the heart of the Swiss electricity supply, in the Swissgrid control centre, various teams monitor and control the electricity flows in the grid around the clock.
Our Operational Decision Support team is responsible for the development and operation of applications for operational decision support, in close cooperation with the internal IT.
